In an event that shows that the fledgling Tea Party movement will be active in more than just federal races this year, the Rochester Tea Party Patriots held a school-board candidate forum Monday, the first such event for the group. "You know what they say,  all politics is local,  so we think we should be getting more involved on a local level," said
Cindy Maves, chairwoman of the Rochester Tea Party Patriots.
Fourteen of the fifteen candidates who have filed for the Aug. 10 primary gave brief introductions and answered written questions from the audience. Around 70 people attended the two-hour event, held at Godfather's Pizza in northwest Rochester.  Read the whole article       View more pictures here.

Volunteering on Local Campaigns:
Excerpt from Michael Yost http://americanmajority.org/author/michael-yost/

How many of you are satisfied with the way that your elected officials are running your school district, city, county or state? Are your taxpayer dollars being put to good use? Are the current elected officials being held accountable for the decisions that they make with your dollars? Have they produced the results they promised?
If you have actually taken the time to ask yourself these questions already, great, but I would argue that most haven't. In fact, I'd venture to guess that the vast majority of Minnesotans, if they would take a minute or two and ask themselves these simple questions, would not be overwhelmingly satisfied with the way in which their local governments have operated.
But you ask, so what can I do? Well, for starters have you looked at the list of quality conservative candidates that are running for these local offices in your community? I bet that most would likely be able to identify with someone who is running for office and who shares similar conservative viewpoints of less government intervention and dismisses the ideology that throwing more money at the problem won't make it go away.
The next step, well that's the easiest, get involved and volunteer!    Find out who is running for office in your area:
